Insurance approved! Couple of questions

Recommended Posts

I got a call from my insurance today and they've approved my surgery! I'm scheduled for Aug 26th. I feel very fortunate because they will pay 100% of the cost. I was right on the borderline of a 40 BMI with no major comorbidities other than back pain/arthritis, so I was a bit worried about getting approved.

Now the questions:

My doctors office says no gum, which I hadn't heard before. Something about swallowing air when you chew it. Anyone else have this restriction?

I only take 1 pill a day right now (antidepressant) and its small, but I wonder if that will be an issue in the first couple of weeks? Did anyone have to switch to liquid prescriptions?

Congratulations on your Surgery date/approval. Very exciting time.

I was told no gum as well and I don't chew gum very often anyway but I waited at least 6 months. I never really asked why to be honest because again I do not chew it very often.

As for the pills I think they want liquid form or chewables while you're in the healing phase. They don't want to risk the pills getting stuck right after surgery. I would consult your Doctor to be sure.

Yes, definitely consult your doctor. I was able to continue most of my pills the day after surgery - Prozac and birth control were ok for me to take.

I was okay taking my meds after surgery. The liquid was Tylenol with codeine for the pain.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
