Anyone have lipo done?

Recommended Posts

If so, what area of your body? How much did it cost? How long did you wear that body garment thing?

Do you like the results?

I had Lipo done in July of '05 and would not recommend it unless you don't have very much fat to take out. I did it pre-op however and didn't realize that I was big enough for WLS at the time (220) 5'7''. I had full body liposuction on my stomach, flanks (back fat...), knees, upper thighs and chin. I had over 3 liters of fat taken out on my stomach which was the most significant and then my doctor just touched the other places up. I was very unhappy with my results on my back, b/c I wanted all of my back fat taken out as well as my tummy. The garmet is a pain in the butt and you have to wear it for at least 6 weeks which sucks. If you are near your ideal weight then I would go for it but my doctor made me believe that he could get all of the fat out in one operation. This simply isn't the case. Liposuction is for body contouring and touch ups, not for obese patients. In the end the surgeon was just after my money.:D I would not recommend it for it is very expensive (7 grand...) and I feel like I just pissed my money away when I could of used it then for my lapband. Now I know better....If you do decide to proceed, just keep in mind that the results the surgeon shows you are his "best results" and typical results are much less drastic and more subtle. I was expecting a good deal of my fat to disappear but was upset when I barely noticed a difference.:think Good luck with what you decide.

I had it done on my under arms, hips, stomach, and lower butt. The only thing after having it done over 10 years ago, is that it made a difference in my hips, and stomach.

Look around and go to many doctors for your free chat. The doctor is what can make the difference for you. There is some bad ones out there. I had a bad one for my first Lipo.< /p>

Hi there! I had an abdominoplasty and a bilateral mastopexy with augmentation on Dec. 8th. I asked the surgeon to touch up my hips and thighs with Lipo so that I would look balanced after having my tummy skin removed. He did a very little bit on my outer thighs and it made a great deal of difference for me. I lost the "saddle bag" look and ended up being more balanced.

Now, don't get my wrong. My thighs are a MESS! They look like twin char peis! I have tons of loose skin on my thighs, and don't know if I will ever do the thigh lift. That is a SCARY operation to me because of where the incision is. But, the lipo took the bulk off the outside of my thighs so that when I wear pants, you don't see saddlebags.

There is always a trade off with lipo. It does NOT fix loose skin. As a matter of fact, it makes loose skin worse. If you already have puckers and you have lipo, you will have more puckers. A lift is truly the only way to deal with loose skin.

The other thing you should know is that the lipo was the MOST painful part of my healing. My abdominoplasty incision went around about 70% of my body. The surgeon did extensive recontruction on my abdominal muscles. But, NOTHING hurt like my outter thighs from the lipo. Since I am a side sleeper, the healing from the lipo was what kept me from sleeping in a bed for about two weeks (I slept in a recliner).

In spite of the pain, I love my results.

Hugs,

Yes, I had the back of my hips and inner thighs done about 9 years ago.

It hurt, but the neat thing is my thighs don't slap together anymore when I walk! The down side is if you gain weight, it goes to OTHER areas.

I'm sure they've made great strides since mine was done.

Good luck!

PS: I've read this site for over a year, trying to get the $ and courage up to have LBS done by Dr. Jose Rod in Acuna. Hopefully soon!

Yes I had Lipo but I regret doing it. I had full body lipo espc on my stomach, love handles and back fat. Then he touched on my inner thighs and my knees along with my chin. I saw a difference right away in my chin and stomach but hardly any difference in my back/bra fat. That was the area I REALLY hated along with my tummy so I felt like I got ripped off a bit. The doc then tried to convince me to get MORE lipo to get all of the rest of the fat but at that point I realized the problem was more of me being morbidly obese and just needed to lose weight. :faint: If I could go back I would have saved my 7k for my lb surgery. It would have been a better investment than the lipo. It hurt like heck and I saw the fat come back in the same places, aka stomach and back. My stomach is a bit flatter than it was before though but not much. Just my 2 cents

I had Lipo to my bra roll, back, upper arms and hips with my TT 3 mths ago. I agree with Julie, nothing in my surgery hurt like the lipo and still hurts...especially if I have been sitting for a while or waking up in the morning. It was bearable and totally worth it but dont go into it thinking anything but this is gunna KILL haha. I wasnt game to add my thighs to the list because they are already so saggy Dr said it would make it so much worse. As for my bra roll, one side has gone, the other side still has a bit of a roll, he said that is the loose skin left from the lipo and he would have to do a cut around to get rid of it. I was like ummm no way Ill live with it. I was only ever looking for improvement anyways.

Now that I have totally gone off the subject I was in the garment for 6 weeks and as much as it is a pain in the butt you will feel more secure in it. The times I took it off for a shower etc I couldnt wait to get it back on, it feels like it keeps it all in place and tight if you know what I mean especially when you are swelling BAD like I am this week.

Anyway good luck with whatever you decide.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
