Unfortunately your hunger will return after surgery, you are still healing and should keep to your post op diet. eating chips was not a smart thing to do. The band will not physically stop you from eating anything, just because you can eat anything and everything doesn't mean that you should. think about why you had surgery. You are not going to feel your band its inside your stomach, and it may take several fills to get the green zone where you will be satisfied for many hours on little food. right now it is all on your will power or want power, you must do all the work now, the band will help you need to help it along the way. no more chips!!

Yes ur right Pittsbur.. Not the smartest choice. I am embarrassed to even type that. Just thought I would feel some kind of restriction .. I did right after surgery but that lasted bout 4 days.

I agree and I guess disagree all at the same time. Yes your hunger will return. No you should not over indulge in fatty foods. Change however takes time. Don't be embarrassed that you ate chips. Just limit the amount you eat. Deprivation is the mother of all diet breaking habits. The best thing my mother (who lost over 100 pounds without surgery and has kept it off) ever told me was this: you strive to have a healthy diet as much as humanly possible. But when you truly crave something and you don't eat it, sometimes you over eat other things trying to compensate for the one item you are avoiding. It is not the fatty foods that make us lose control - one chip did not make you gain several pounds over night - it took several chips over a long period of time. So every blue moon if you have to have some chips than do so. Portion Control is the key.

Couldnt agree more with this post. I am one of those people where if I'm truly craving something I will eat much more food than if I was to have a small taste of what I was craving. You just cant have cravings everyday :)

You felt restriction initially because of swelling, as the swelling subsides, so does the restriction. Right now it's all about healing and learning will power and the band diet. Once you start getting fills that will help with Portion Control. Don't beat yourself when you realize you made a not so good choice, accept it and move on from there. You can do it!

I'm in the same boat. I don't get my first fill until aug 21! I could eat anything and everything right now. We got the band to help us and until we get our fills we are still gonna struggle. I've lost 23lbs with the liquid diet. My doctor to me that when I come back for my fill he expects me to of gain few lbs just cause its like I have no band. So don't worry and just do your best on eating right.

You are so not alone. I am 2wks post op and don't get my first fill until 8/26. Healing really well and hunger is back with a vengeance! It's taking a lot of willpower but I'm hangin in there. I called the dietician asking if this is normal and she assured me that for some it is. Lost 24lbs on the liquid pre-op diet but nothing more since. Hang in there!!

I agreed with tiger however, you are only 3 weeks out of surgery and eating anything other than your diet food might hurt you. chips are hard and could do damage to your stomach. Everyone else is hungry at this time too. I am currently 5 weeks out with no fill and im hungry but you gotta keep keeping on :)

I've eaten somethings that I should not have, but I just got back in the saddle again and tried harder the next day. If I was able to diet properly I would not need the band. And guess everyone here could say the same thing. So try harder but don't beat yourself to death over a minor slip.

Here was my slip last night; almonds, pretzels and sour cream and onion flavored crisps! I was mad at myself so today I redoubled my efforts and did well. My first fill is August 22nd, but I think it's me relearning how to eat more than the band not making me feel full!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
