No solids before 2pm or after 8pm!

Recommended Posts

I've come to the conclusion that my band does not like solid foods before 2pm or after 8pm. I realize I may be a bit tight, but I'm not going to get an unfill because I'm losing very well. I have a 6-hour window for solid foods and I'm okay with that. We are a team and we have to know how to work together, so if my band says no solids early or late, then that's what it will have to be. I can still get adequate nutrition from Protein shakes, Protein Shots and other full liquids. I'm not hungry and that's the point, right?

Sigh.

I don't eat at all after 8:00 PM. I do get solids in by noon. My band is tighter in the am so I eat softer foods, yogurt, cottage cheese etc. I think your plan sounds fine.

I can only drink warm liquids in the morning and then move onto something soft before lunch. I do not have a problem eating after 8pm, unless I took a nap. lol

I would strongly suggest you check with the doctor to make sure he/she is OK with this. Sounds to me like you are a tad too tight and not eating solids is the least of your concerns if you start to have issues such as band slippage, or any of the other problems some people encounter. I don't think you want to risk your health so again, just clear it with the doc. PS: I eat three meals a day, stay at or around 1,000 calories and have been very successful with satiety and weight loss. It really is OK to be hungry as long as you are not so hungry that you can't maintain band sized portions.

Sounds like me also....can't eat early in the day, so it's high Protein smoothies..plus my coffee....can't eat after 7-8 or it's reflux from being horizontal....

Been that way for 2 years now...I'm doing fine...have lost ALL excess weight and un needed body fat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
