Today has been rough

Recommended Posts

I don't know what it is but my band is NOT my friend today. This morning I tried to drink a Protein Shake and could barely drink it. It felt stuck. Since then I've been burping nonstop. Like not huge burping but little burps and then gurgling and my mouth gets all watery and feels like I'm going to throw up but I don't. Anyone have this before ? I think I might be too tight but I for my last fill almost a month ago so I don't know why now all of a sudden this is happening. I'm waiting for a call back from my doctor buts it's worrying me.

Your stomach is a muscle and is susceptible to swelling just like the rest of your body. Stomach bugs, TOM, too much sodium, stress can all effect your stomach making the stoma a smaller hole for food to travel through. Call your doctor is this continues.

I was blissfully in the green zone for about three months, and then all of a sudden I started having occasional PB's again, and over the course of about 2.5 to 3 weeks progressively got worse until I could barely eat Soup. I went in and had a small unfill, .5 cc, and am much better, and am actually seeing the scale move downward again!!

That's the problem with getting a little too tight is that it can turn into a snowball effect. If you notice bringing food back up I'd recommend taking some liquid motrin and immediately going on liquids to let the swelling go down. If you don't it starts to get worse and worse until you need some Fluid out. Also, whenever you are especially tight it can help to take in lots of fluids to rehydrate your body. You can be in the green zone one day and be miserable the next just from not taking in enough liquids.< /p>

Try a warm drink first thing in the am. My band is always tight in the mornings.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
