tamara3569 25 Posted July 31, 2013 I read that after surgery you are only supposed to eat 3 times a day but I'm a diabetic and I need to eat every couple of hours how would that work? 1 PrettyThick1 reacted to this

PrettyThick1 1,860 Posted July 31, 2013 I read that after surgery you are only supposed to eat 3 times a day but I'm a diabetic and I need to eat every couple of hours how would that work? Oh, please...don't let that scare you! You won't be hungry that often and what you will consume will be enough to keep your sugar levels in check. It's only been six weeks for me, but my levels were back to normal before I was done with the preop diet. What's more exciting is that I don't even need my medication anymore and it's only been 6 weeks! You might take a bit longer to get to that point, but trust me you will get there, too! No worries...diabetes is about to be a thing of history for you!
cflick 303 Posted July 31, 2013 My dr says every 4 hrs. So I.. a) eat when I'm hungry but b ) that ends up being around 4 times a day 7am 11 am 3 pm and 630-7 pm
Toddy 758 Posted July 31, 2013 I had a good friend that had barely controlled diabetes. She actually was off insulin before she had completed her pre-op diet! Even if you do have to eat more than three times a day, for whatever reason, you'll be fine with very tiny amounts more often. 1 PrettyThick1 reacted to this
jfc193 718 Posted July 31, 2013 Even though we are all different one of the main themes that you hear over and over is how people are able to stop taking medicine for diabetes. It really did not take to long for me to get off of diabetes medicine.
tamara3569 25 Posted August 1, 2013 Thanks for all of the insight. Me being a diabetic is one of the main reasons I decided to finally have the surgery. To see that many people are off meds so quickly is a testament to me making the right decision! Good luck to everyone!
Lorettanjgal 19 Posted August 2, 2013 I'm on Clear Liquids for 5 days and taking metformin. My glucose levels are still high. I'm waiting for the doc to call back. Has anyone noticed that there is hardly any weight loss, when ur glucose runs high?
