Lost 70 pound but im stuck at a standstill

Recommended Posts

I've seesawed back and forth after fills for the last year trying desperately to find my green zone . With having such a sensitive stomach, fills complicate my progress. I've gained and lost my last ten pounds atleast four times now and I'm so frustrated! I have 34 pounds to lose to my goal and it feel like 340! In October it will be two years til my Bandaversary , this is such a rolrollercoaster and I'm feeling discouraged.

How long have you been gaining/losing the same 10 pounds?

Do you count calories? If so, how many are you eating a day?

Do you exercise?

Are you restricting your portions to a cup or less per meal?

Can you go at least 4 hours between meals without hunger?

Sorry for all the questions, it's so we can better help. :)

I've been going back and forth like 3 or 4 months. I work out only 2xs a week. I do not weigh my food but I eat weight watchers lunches and others around 300 cal, my largest meal is dinner. I don't measure in a cup but I measure by hand as the nurse showed me. Should I purchase a food scale?

Show.

I'm no expert on any topic but I read somewhere that although pre packed/frozen low cal/low fat food is better than other stuff, it is high in carbs or sodium which make us fat or retain Water. That's what I think could be happening. As for me, I never measure anything because before surgery I decided to serve myself in the smallest bowl in the house. The bowl can only contain about a cup of solid food. That's my measuring device. However, I do go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I am not a veteran bandster like you. I just wanted to chime in. It's been a month since I've been banded and for three weeks after surgery, I did not lose any weight. This week, I decided to cut most carbs like bread and rice, and I already lost a pound in two days.

Just curious, in other diet programs it seemed like those that had the most to lose (or just heavier,I guess) seemed to drop the weight much faster than those that had less to lose? Do you bandsters find that to still be the case? I just want to prepare myself..,

This is strictly my personal opinion, but if I were you I'd start actually tracking your calories. Most people who don't track them are shocked when they start and see how much they're actually consuming. Weight loss really boils down to simple math- when you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. Tracking calories is the easiest way to make sure that happens.

Best wishes.

Yes, I have found that to be true. Initially, they lose quicker, but then the loss slows down the lighter they get.

As far as preparing yourself for what's to come, it's best not to compare yourself to anyone else. Everyone loses at their own pace, and your body will release the weight however your particular chemistry works. If you follow the rules; track your food, exercise, and do what your doctor recommends, the weight will come off.

Good luck!

What you're going through is completely normal ;) It's a big step, and the unknown is always a bit scary. But I can tell you.....it's SO worth it! You will be fine, and once you're on "the other side", you'll put one foot in front of the other, and walk a new path. In the beginning, it's not easy. But then you get past that, and the way you eat will become the new normal :)

Thanks so much for the encouraging words! I tell you I have been through so many emotions at once before! I go from excitement, to extreme anticipation, to anxiety, to fear, to doubt, to impatience,......but mostly Excitement!!

That's exactly how I was; excitement being the strongest emotion. I never thought about cancelling, though, because I took a long time to make my decision. I was at my wits end with my increasing weight, and knew that I had to take serious action.

Please let us know how you're doing after the 15th! VERY exciting!!

I had second thoughts as well and they came during my preop diet. Just had to reminds self daily that this phase was temporary and that I was making the best choice for myself. Expect some grumpy days during preop diet! Good luck and hang on!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
