Hi Ladies:

Aunt Flow is visiting me for the second time since I've been banded and it seems she's come with a vengeneance this go-round. If you are prone to cramping, did you notice that yours was worse? It feels like a crane is operating in my uterous this time. Also, it's very little being produced. Does that indicate anemia?

Thanks for your advice,

Gwen

Gwen - I'm long past having periods, but you should call your OB/GYN and tell him/her what's going on. Most likely, it's due to all the recent changes your body has (and continues to) go through. But you should definitely call and explain that you've just had bariatric surgery, etc. Only your doctor can really put your mind at ease.

Many years ago, I was taking tons of diet pills, speed.....and anything else I could get my hands on. I was swinging from the chandeliers, but happy being in a size 3 (really?). Anyway, I skipped a period or two during that time. Our female reproductive system is sensitive to major changes in our bodies, but definitely check it out with your doc.

I agree with mrsinto.and as a side note a friend of mine had her TOM cramps get better after she was banded so there seems to be a connection I've heard other people post about having worse cramps too. I don't have one anymore so I can't speak from experience. But definitely check with your Doc to be sure everything is Kosher.

~~~Stephanie
Where in NY Mike? There are lots of NYC/LI/Rockland/Westchester folks on this forum.
I've always had severe cramps.. They've been worse the past couple of months, but my period has gotten lighter (used to go 7-9 days and now the past two months 4-5 days). I mark it up to my body is changing and it's confused. Lol.
Mine have been irregular since surgery and i dont have much cramps before but now i do as well. my dr. for down under said its common and once our bodies have fully healed it should pass. but we are all different so going to your dr. would be ideal.. just in case..
      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
      Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞
      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
