Hi everyone

I just had my first fill yesterday, 4.8 CC. Dr told me to only have Clear Liquids for 2 days and mushy food for 2 weeks.

which I am totally fine with.

I just wanna know is it normal that I feel a little pain at my band area? Its hard to even have liquids. I only had a cup of coffee and one glass of juice yesterday but each took me around 1 hr, is it normal??

I'm gonna take a GUESS here, so take it for what it is or isn't worth. (just my opinion) A fill of 4.8 cc's is somewhat more aggressive than what you will find on here to be the norm, so I'm assuming your doctor used fluoroscopy to do the adjustment? That being said, he/she may have a different idea about the need to get you to the green zone faster than other surgeons. Maybe in their experience, patients do better if they reach it sooner rather than later....and don't have a chance to lose motivation/determination because they don't feel restriction or that their band is "working".

You can read on here every day about people losing hope, motivation, etc because "I'm eating too much", "I don't feel any different", "my band isn't working", "I'm starving" etc, etc.....

I'm not saying true PAIN should ever be considered normal, but feeling SOMETHING (discomfort occasionally after eating or drinking too fast) may actually end up being a benefit for you...you may HAVE to slow down, chew well, eat slow and take small bites/drinks. All those things you were probably advised to do to be successful with the band.

For me, I know when I "feel" the restriction of my band working, it makes me smile and be HAPPY now....because I know its there and helping me. I never was good at dieting for long periods of time...I always gave up and went right back to poor choices, eating multiple plates of food, way too fast.....

As long as you can get in adequate clear fluids, and can follow the recommendations of your surgeon as far as "eating" enough, I think you're gonna be happy in the long run! But it may take some serious effort on your part for the first couple of weeks to adjust your eating habits. Best wishes! :)

Wow

Thanks alot,

I appreciate your reply, It really helped alot.

BTW your assumptions were all correct ;) he did get the fluoroscopy to make sure, and he told me by his procedure I had to have less visits than other dr.s, Sp i think he wanted to restrict me as soon as possible. :)

Im so happy to see successful people like you. Your picture says it all. :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
