You will be ok! If you are losing a lot of hair, let your surgeon and nutritionist know. They will help. I didn't tell them for six months and as soon as I told them, money put me on a Vitamin routine for three months. My hair stopped falling out and has all grown back. It is not the end of the world. It is fixable.

Also, it doesn't happen to everyone so don't add any undue stress.

I have been on a weight loss journey for nearly 3 years, and when I first started my hair came out in handfuls! I was not on many Vitamins. But adding lots of Omega 3's to my diet and various vitamins that problem stopped. Now my hair is thicker in better shape than it has ever been. Now I'll find out how things go with the band. But I continue on my Vitamin routine! Best wishes to you!

Ive been banded 19 months and I haven't had any Hair loss at all. If anything, my thin fine hair has gotten a little thicker, I think because of all the Protein im eating. A hairdresser recommended Joico brand Shampoo, cond and volume mousse. Im don't see a huge difference with the shampoo or cond but WOW the mousse sure gives me a " full head of hair "look !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
