Where are everyone's ports located?

Mine is on my left side a few inches below my breast but not at my waist

Well 3rd day post-op, had my apple juice with 2 scoops of Protein Powder n now I'm not ready for Breakfast. I get to have a Protein Shake with pureed fruit or yogurt n pureed fruit. I was so looking forward to it...in 30 min I guess....lol

On a positive. I have lost 5 lbs in 4 days

Seems like everyone uses a different Protein. I use Isagenix. Love this stuff. The regular shake is 24 grams of protein and all of the other things our bodies need. I add one scoop of their protein only which makes my shakes 38 grams. I feel very full and satisfied with these. My dietician loved the idea of using Isagenix once she read all the ingredients and values. Ive been adding one scoop of Fiber as well which has really seemed to help with easing the gas. Day 4 post op and all is well. Feeling somewhat normal again.

My port is located kinda on my left chest wall - right above my breast - I think lol. My incision is kinda on the side under my arm a bit.

My port is about 2 inches above my belly button - so far it hadn't bothered me at all.

this was day 5 for me. overall, i feel great. very little pain of any kind. occasionally there's a little discomfort/gas pain. i feel like i want to burp or hiccup but can't.

actually, my biggest annoyance is that i'm really, really hungry. yesterday was my first day on all liquids, and i had a smoothie. today, i've had at least 800 calories of juice/smoothies/soup and stillllll hungry. guess i'll be making that first fill appointment asap.

also, i'm retaining Water and i've actually gained about 5 lbs since surgery. i don't feel backed up or anything. but i wasn't on any pre-op diet, so i was ingesting plenty of calories right up till surgery, but it's been 6 days since i've had a bm. sorry if tmi. i'll probably roll out the milk of magnesia if nothing changes by tomorrow.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
