I am a teacher, so I have to get up a bunch anyway. But thx for the tips. I only have to do 2 classes tomorrow. Easy peasy. Woot woot

The GasX is for the farty rumbles going thru from not eating for 2 days then reintroducing food. Luckily, I don't have much other gas pain. ;)

I feel like I have a trapped hiccup ready to come out, but it never does.

PS I am at work, but exhausted. The drive in was really bumpy. Drive with a pillow for sure. ...My students really missed me. Yay!

2 weeks post op and good check up at doctors today! Amazed how great I feel!

Stitches out and healed nicely.

Began mushies...not sure what I was more amazed at--that 4 Tbsp tuna w/mayo and 4 crackers tasted SOOOOOOOO DELICIOUS or that small quantity satisfied me perfectly! :)

Thanks! LOL

It is very weird trying to figure out how this all works now. We need to re-learn everything! I think the hiccup-y feeling is when I over eat or drink too much. I think when it starts to hurt really bad, a deep empty in my throat, then I'm running on empty. Not sure, but that's my guess so far.

So, I went to work today (surgery was Monday). I woke up ready to go, and all was fine til about half way through the day. I got hot flashes, pain, and felt like I was going to barf. I took 2 tylenol and my Protein Shake, and felt a little better, but by the end of the school day I was in agony. I drove home, which was hard. Thankfully my kind neighbor got my daughter off the bus so I could take my percocet and sleep. My husband was not happy that I had gone to work at all. I am sooo glad that I have Sat and Sunday to rest.

I met with my doctor on friday, I lost 10 lbs post op. confessed that Ive tried mashed potatoes and sugar free pudding and even some grilled salmon with the mashed potatoes but only about 2 oz. I had no effects. It seems I can eat with little issue as long as I keep within the 6 oz portion. I even tried a piece of whole wheat toast today with jam. had no problem. The doctor says as long as i have no issue then i can move towards solid food but to stay away from dry meats like chicken, pork and beef for another week. I seem to be recovering faster than most. I can drink 10-16 oz with no problems so getting my Protein is not a problem. If i can do solid food for a full week then I can get my 1st fill early instead of waiting 4 more weeks. He says just call if i think i'm ready and i can be brought in early in a couple of weeks. I think that is good news. I feel cheated that I'm not getting any restriction or side effects from anything I try...

NewDebbie, your experience sounds almost exactly like mine! I asked my dr about getting a fill earlier but he wouldn't do it. So I'm a tad jealous lol. Good luck and congrats!

I'm so happy for you. I am able to have eggs and baby food starting today. I had 1/4 cup eggs and 1/4 cup oatmeal. I wanted to try a bite of toast too, but my mother wouldn't let me try any. I'll have to wait until she is gone and try some. Congrats on your possible early fill. My fingers are crossed for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
