Yeah, I'm on thicker liquids now. Week 2.. I've added some hummus and Greek yogurt in ( whatever one has the highest Protein in it) and that seems a little better than last week with just broth :-) hang in there!

I am five days out. Thanks! I have been worried that something was wrong with me. I know I am probably swollen because of the hernia removal but I don't want to delay my healing either. I felt great today but Doc has me on a schedule to be eating fish/tuna on day 14.

you sound as if you are right on schedule...like you, i had a hernia repair and my fist week, i wasnt hungry at all but it was important to stay hydrated so i sipped and sipped and sipped some more..you are doing nothing wrong..the more you heal, the swelling goes does and you will again to feel hungry..doing GREAT you are

Hotbutterfly, my surgeon/dietician has me doing 3 oz of Protein Shake every hour, that is helping me alot more. I started out like you just drinking one when I was hungry. Give this a try and see if it helps. It's more time consuming, but I don't have the hunger pains. I'm trying to push more Water in between, my problem is I'm not a big drinker of anything, so pushing fluids is my weakest task. Best of luck :)

I had difficulty drinking during the first three days; I would get out of breath while taking small sips (not anymore). I still take little sips. I would be held over without feeling hungry for about five hours with my Boost shake... I suddenly was getting hungry much earlier 3-3.5 hours, the I realized its because the GNC shakes are not as filling as the Boost... Guess I need to make another trip to Bj's to get more boost.

I don't think it's the drinks butterfly...you were likely swollen right after surgery and the swelling has gone down. That's why you are hungry and can drink easier. By all means go get the Boost shakes if you think that will help but just know that this is the time when you just have to 'man up' and use will power till you get satiety from the fills.

It should be easy to drink shakes. In fact' date=' drinking should never be difficult.

Remember, the fills are to control hunger, not what and how much you eat.[/quote']

Hi Mis73. This helps me a bit I think. I was banded on Friday the 26th and I've noticed I can drink more with each day. Just a little burping here and there. I don't really feel hungry. It's good to know this is normal at this point

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
