Great topic! Some of my favorite NSV's are: I can cross my legs; I can shop for clothes in regular size departments/stores; I don't have to use the handicapped stall in public restrooms; there's plenty of room in airplane and theater seats now; I can sit on the floor and get up again without needing a crane to lift me; I wore a bathing suit in public while on vacation; I bought my first short skirt in 30 years and even wear it in public; people I tell about my weight loss say, "I never would have guessed you were ever that big."

Omg! I was cleaning some jewelry today and decided to try on my favorite ring, which used to fit tight. Well, I can wear it now, yippee!

My current NSV is sitting in my recliner and pulling my legs and feet up in the seat with me. I've always been short and would pull my feet into my chair so they wouldn't dangle and go numb. (My grandmother would tell me that I wasn't allowed to feed my knees at dinner.) At some point I became too big to do that in my recliner. Sure I could lean back and have my feet on the foot rest but it's just not the same as snuggling up in the seat. But now I have plenty of room in my recliner. :-)

I haven't been banded yet but this has been one of my favorite threads!

Knowing that I can fit into pretty much any chair without breaking it.

Sitting in booths at restaurants.

Running.

Knowing a seat belt in any car will fit me.

Shopping in the regular ladies section/occasionally juniors section.

Feeling almost normal.

1st: was yesterday when at the end of my 30 min walk on the treadmill I actually JOGGED the last few minutes!!!!!!!

2nd: was today during my walk; when I started walking 2-3 minutes, then jog a minute and then walk, jog, walk, jog and repeated this the entire workout!

3rd: was this morning when my husband said "WOW, I can already tell you have lost weight and your belly, its almost completely gone!".

--Tomorrow will be 3 weeks & I'm scheduled for my first fill--

I'm down 21 lbs from surgery & 32 lbs from my heaviest weight.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
