I remember I was so happy during this stage. I had instant mashed potatoes, eggs and refried Beans. Oh and I put plain greek yogurt in everything! Because I wasn't getting enough Protein in. Good luck!

Fat free refried Beans with mild salsa is good. Most of my stuff doesn't come out thin enough. Hopefully I'm not causing any problems.

I take half a can of refried mix Beans, add a 1/3 cup Water, 4 cherry tomtaoes and a dash of taco seasoning. Throw it all in the blender. If it is to thick I thin out a bit more by adding water. Heat it up and its a great Mexican soup!!!

Also steam a bag of the birds eye vegs (the individual steam ones that have 4 steam bags per) I blend it with a weight watcher cream of chicken Soup. Blend well and heat. Great mushie soup and get me full for hours.

If you are seeking healthy, nutrient filled choices that taste good I would do sweet potatoes (puréed with apple juice or Water or both), Beans with salsa, spinach with shallots and/or garlic and a tiny bit of cream for purée...I did a sweet potato with coconut and coconut milk and it tasted like pudding :). These types of choices prepare you for real life eating ;). If you just eat pudding and shakes it will just be temporary and you would gain weight once you can eat more. This is not a miracle fix ;). We still need to give our bodies proper nutrients if we want to be healthy and keep our hair luxurious ;). Good luck!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
