CONGRATS!!!!

Im trying, and my ob/gyn said she doesn't remove Fluid unless morning sickness is a huge problem, and then only for first trimester.

Hello. I got pregnant after having the band for one year. I never had to have my Fluid removed. This was based on careful watch of my and the baby's weight gain. As long as the OB-GYN is informed they will monitor your and your baby's weight gain. If insufficient, they may ask that the fluid be taken out (at least in part) to allow for better nutrition. Also, other considerations..if you end up being one of those mom's that vomit excessively, you may want to have all the fluid taken out as a precaution. Not for baby, but to prevent slips etc. Also, be realistic about your nutrition. If you find yourself not eating, not eating balanced and you know this may pose a risk...time for an unfill to allow for greater variety or portions. Hormones can be tricky on the band (for instance some woman find their bands tighter during their PM). If you find your band being more restrictive than normal, have a partial unfill to accomodate. Be in constant and honest communication with your ob-gyn to ensure that you and your baby stay healthy during your pregnancy. Congrats!

Congrats on your pregnancy!! I agree with hazelbliss, just make sure you listen to your body and if you notice that something doesn't seem right (ie excess vomiting, stomach pain, etc) contact your surgeon about a full or partial Fluid removal. But most importantly, enjoy your pregnancy, and remember, you got the weight off once, you can do it again :)

Congrats on your news. Your band physician may not give you a choice in the matter. Mine did not, he took out most of the Fluid. At first I was wondering if that was the best choice. But now I am 15 weeks into this pregnancy and have lost 2 lbs over the last 4 weeks. I am trying my best to eat but nothing is appetizing to me. If I had the restriction level I had before he took the fluid out, I would be in real trouble as far as getting adequate calories, since I have just not wanted to eat. So bottom line, trust your doctors.

my doctor left it up to me. he was going to remove it all, but i balked at it entirely. i had 3ccs removed because i getting stuck on everything around 12 weeks. i finished out the pregnancy with 3.5ccs still in the band. i gained 30-35 pounds during the pregnancy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
