Hi there, I have my band surgery August 13th. Can anyone tell me what type of pain meds do they give you post op and for home too? I don't do good with pain and am worried how I might react after surgery if it gets bad. Thanks xx

My doctor gave me liquid vicodin post op. I took that for about 3 days and then switched to regular Tylenol and did just fine.

Loritab for first 48 hrs. After that, it was a piece of diet cake.

Some ppl have no pain after surgery. Try not to worry about the "what if's".

I too am concerned about pain meds. I've been reading some people have trouble getting pills down; I like the idea of liquid pain meds. I'm meeting with the surgeon on 6 August, that is just one more thing on the list to talk to him about. The list is getting longer and longer, I'm sure glad he's a patient man.

I got banded on Tuesday, he gave me liquid loritab. It's been controlling mine but I have been taking it every 5 hours instead of 6 to keep the pain from kicking in. I hope to back off the pain meds tomorrow.

Great thanks so much. I will try not think about it too much the what if's. I think everything runs through your mind just before the big day. I'm sure it'll be just fine!

I was on Liquid Lortab as well. I only used it a couple times but then again I have a high tolerance for pain.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
