Yesterday, I went out to dinner and I wanted to eat a salad but didn't because I was told that I cannot have raw fruits or vegetables for 60 days post op. did anyone eat salad right after beginning to eat solid foods?

I on the other hand have no issue with salad. After 6 weeks and I was on solid food I had a little lettuce to see if I had issues. No issues, but I do eat slowly and chew like crazy. Lettuce is finger food as far as I am concerned. I eat the Protein portion of the salad and the just have a little green, orange, or what ever color as desert sort of. Tried a small Waldorf salad with apple, walnuts, grapes. Cut the grape in 4 pieces as it was a big fella and had not issue.

I was banded on June 24, I have not had lettuce yet, but have had no issues with broccolli, tomatoes, onions, fresh peaches, or cantalope...these are the only raw fruits and veggies I haver tried.

It's best to follow the post op instructions given to you by your medical team. If they advise to wait for 60 days post op to try certain foods, there is a medical rational behind their advice.

If you are missing these foods and feel you cannot wait to resume eating them, ask your surgeon what their professional opinion is before you do.

I was able to eat salad early on (after the waiting period), but forget it now! I can eat some of the toppings, but the lettuce kills me. I really love(d) salad, too. Oh well, I stick with what works.

I love salads, although I usually have a tiny amount of lettuce and load up raw veggies and meat. More like a veggie bowl. I have never really had any issues with fruits/veggies other than beets.

NO LETTUCE for me. It is the only veggie that has made me get sick. I have shredded it and chopped it up super fine but my band say nope. So I don't do lettuce salads anymore. :(

But I do fresh fruits and other veggies. My band is training me to eat differently and so much slower. My journey seems to be yes you can eat this today but not the next time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
