You only ate a cup of food a day? I was told 1/2 - 1 cup per meal.

Make that per meal, not per day.

I didnt lose any weight for about from week 2 - 4. Now I am at week 5 and losing again. I think my body had to kick out of starvation mode.

I also stopped losing after week 2. I held steady at 19 lbs. I just got a fill today and have 5 cc in my 10 cc band. My surgeon filled 4 cc during my "installation" of the band.

In bandster hell myself! Banded 7/8/13 and 1st fill will be 8/27/13, thats a little more than 6 weeks (yikes). What I'm trying to do is Portion Control because I can't feel/know when I'm full.

I guess this surprises me because I thought that it was supposed to be at 4-weeks.... Hang in there! I'll be pulling for ya!

I'm feeling very hungry and eating more then I have in the last few days! When do I get a fill?

My doctor had me schedule my first fill the day after surgery and it was 3 weeks to the day of my procedure. I think he nailed the timing because it was at that stage that I started feeling hunger again. What's more is that my weight is on a steady decline (3+ lbs. per week) and I can only think that getting the fill at the right time had a lot to do with it.

I'm almost 2 weeks out and my hunger has def increased in the last few days, and I've stopped losing (tho cals in remain the same in a range btwn 650-900). From what I've read on here that seems similar to many others' experience.

Good luck w the fill - let us know how it goes! I've got another cpl weeks before mine and I'm curious abt what it will be like.

Yes, you are nearing your time for a fill - 3 weeks is optimal. Don't worry about the slower weight loss, that happened to me but after a few days and a fill it kicked back in. Try to get a few more calories in, I think it makes a difference if you get at least 1000.

Hi all. I was banded on 7/9/13 and I'm starving! Lol. I know I wasn't supposed to start regular food yet but we had a sudden death in my wife's family and had to be out of town for a few days. Kind of difficult to stick to a liquid soft diet in those circumstances. Anyhow, I'm thinking I may need to move up my fill from mid August to a sooner date. My problem now is that I thought I was supposed to feel full faster but it seems I just get a weird feeling that comes on without warning while eating.....like its not going down. Luckily it last just a few seconds. And that's even while eating really slow and chewing the hell out of my food. Seems to be normal for some. I'm hoping a fill will help change that.

Doubtful? It would only make it worse. You're still swollen and since you've not been following the rules you could be even more swollen due to irritating the area around the band. You're already tight so a fill would only make you tighter.

My advice would be to go back to liquids but most of all, call your doctor's office and tell them what's going on?

You're probably right and these next few weeks are going to be al screwed up now. Lol. I'll be on vacation this next week upstate and then I'm home for a week and down to myrtle beach we go. Until I have a chance to see the dr and get a fill, I'll have to go back on at least a soft diet. I find I'm hungry a lot right now and have to try and keep busy.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
