I had surgery yesterday and my port site hurts so bad. I cannot lay down or get out of the recliner without help can't even go to the bathroom without help sitting down and getting up. I have a low grade fever and the dr's office has already called in antibiotics. Is this normal?? I feel like I have pulled muscles in my neck and legs and I have a lot of pressure in my chest.

I was banned on Monday, July 15. So far so good, but I also had pain at my portal site and I think it is very normal. Feel better soon.

The abdominal pain is very normal. It will last for a week or two. The pain in your chest is probably gas. I had pain in my left shoulder and pain/pressure in my chest. It went away in a week. Hang in there. It will get much better I promise.

Girl, I can so relate! It was hard to get up off the recliner, and don't get me started on trying to pee! Man, it was very painful! I'm on day 3 post and the gas is finally subsiding.. I was in tears the second day because the gas made every which way I tried to sit or lay super uncomfortable. I'm feeling better though and it will soon be better for you! :D Best wishes!

Banded Monday. And I have to say its not been as bad as it has been for others. Getting up does hurt. Gas is the worse pain for me.but it's starting to pass slowly. I can't tell where my port is so I Don't know if it hurts or not..lol heating paid helps a lot! Walking helps also.

The worst part is no matter what I take I can't make the fever go away. I have had a good amount of Water and half a Protein Shake today but i am dry heaving really feel like I need to throw up. Fixing to try and drink some broth.< /p>

Sorry for the late response, I am feeling much better. I can't keep any Protein Shake or drink down and I can't keep broth down. Makes me so sick. I also ended up with an upper respiratory infection. I am eating very soft puréed foods thinned out. And finally feel like this was all worth it. I felt so bad that I was getting onto myself because I chose to do this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
