You know it's funny when you sit down throughout your journey and you compare to the used to's and the now you do's.... Today is my 3 month bandiversary and while drinking my coffee and getting ready for my over night in Atlantic City with my hunnie i was thinking of all the times i read or heard how being over weight can affect your job. I used to say no that's not me i don't lose money over it.. i don't call out ... man.. what DENIAL! I did!! Between the reflux, not wanting to get out of bed, headaches, or just all around feeling crappy... Where was i all these years.. not anymore even my boss said to me that she could tell a difference .....once again i had to ask myself why didn't i do this sooner! I love my new banded life and this journey i am on! Have a wonderful day everyone!

I'm getting banded on the 12th of August, and I can't wait!! It took me a year to come to a decision to go to an orientation and two months to the day I'm having the surgery. Once I got real and noticed just how much my weight was affecting my daily life, I feel like I'm doing the right thing. My husband is so excited and says that he is excited for me to be healthier. The first 50 years of my life was wonderful and I'm excited to start the 2nd half of my life off the right way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
