Disappointed

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I got banded July 3rd and I lost 16 pounds. But now I'm stuck! I've been at 16 pounds lost for the past 5 days! I van finally eat food tomorrow! I thought I would lose much more and it's discouraging to see the scale stay in the same place. Did anyone else experience this?

my surgery is 8/2/13 and that is my fear --- But, just view what 16 lbs. looks like... and that is huge, so just keep eating healthy ... good luck

Yes, it is part of the journey. Nothing to worry about. You will have many days like that. Just keep eating right and exercising and you will be fine. Good luck on your journey.

The average weight loss with the band is 1-2 pounds per week- not per day. 5 days with no loss isn't "stuck" at all.

Remember, the weight didn't go on overnight and it's not going to come off overnight, either.

Best wishes.

I agree with Missy,

I lost 20 lb. in 10 days, 7 days pre op liquid diet and two days of Clear Liquids after surgery and I have not loose any more since then, so it's been almost 4 weeks with no loss, I am focusing on eating the right food and eventually the way will come off. It could be that my body think it is in a starvation mode because I am not consuming more than 800 cal per day.

Relax...you're just starting out...it takes time to "Get into the Groove" so to speak.....took me months and a few fills...I also gained weight 6 weeks after surgery, and that was after my first fill of 4cc's.

Everybody looses some weight just from the pre and post-op diets....but IMO it is not meaningful weight loss...that will come eventually...(if that is what you want)

Plateaus are very common during your weight loss journey. I am 6 weeks post op and I went through a 10 day plateau. When the plateau ended I lost 7 pounds in less than a week. Be patient. It took most of years to put on the weigh. It is unrealistic to expect it disappear in days. For most of us it will take months and in some cases years to get back to where we should be. Good luck.

You are only 3 weeks post-op and I'm sure you're still healing inside. 16 pounds is a great start. Just keep doing your thing- you will get there with time, patience and hard work. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
