Well I just joined the group today, so hi!! I didn't notice any very recent posts but thought I would and see if anyone is out there. I had my 2nd fill today..surgery was June 6. All of my weight loss so far was basically from my pre op diet...which has been a little discouraging though I know it's my doing

I had my first fill around June 15, about two weeks after surgery. It was still harder to eat at that point but it didn't seem to take long to at "around" the band...which is bad. I need the restriction and really thought it would BE more restrictive than it has been so far. I have read several posts on here that during the 4-6 week period other people have experienced that also and wonder since we are all in the same general time frame since surgery, how are any of you doing with that...are your portions larger than you expected and type of food not as limited as expected?

I realize that this is a tool and since I had my fill today, I feel like the "reset" button was hit and I'm starting again. It's nice to feel like I can start over each time I get a fill and I did set my next fill for only three weeks instead of four hoping that will keep me restricted a little more. Weird thing at my doc today though...when i went in to tech I asked if they were going to put more saline in this time. She giggled and said that 2nd fill patients always ask that but that she was putting in 1.5 (???) and that was all I could hold....I don't know what that even means but I see peeps on here talking about 4ccs, 8ccs,....how do you know what that's about and what your band can hold....?

Anyway, that's all I got for now. Hope to hear from someone!! :)

Hi! I don't like the set up of the social groups. They are a bit confusing to navigate and we don't get notified of new topics. Sorry for the late reply, I am out here. :)

I am dieting right now, until I hit the green zone. I am staying around 1C of food and counting calories. It's all we can do until the band is adjusted to it's optimum level for us. I know this part named "bandster hell" is tough.

Sorry I don't know what the tech meant, but I read that lots of places fill slowly, as being too tight can be dangerous and would require an emergency unfill. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
