ndyoung77 142 Posted July 22, 2013 Anyone else gaining in the second stage? I've gained only 1.5 lbs but its a gain. :-(
drehn88 251 Posted July 22, 2013 By second stage do you mean all foods (not liquids or mushies)? If yes, then there is definitely a stall in weight loss or even a gain when you add foods to your diet. If you are finally eating carbs again, then you could be retaining Fluid and that's what caused the gain. I wouldn't worry about it. Keep tracking your calories and you will do great. 1 2muchfun reacted to this

dlkumes 42 Posted July 22, 2013 I had my surgery three weeks ago today. No pre op diet. The first week I lost ten pounds. The second week one pound and the scale has not budged. I am on solids now but I stick mostly to fish, egg whites, Beans. I mean I have changed my eating dramatically and gave up drinking around 6 diet cokes a day. I really thought I would see more of a loss. I just started exercising today so maybe that will help. Last night I had my first "stuck" episode and threw up. My own fault. Had one small square of pizza which was fine but after almost finishing the second, that did it. In a way I am glad that it happened as it was starting to feel like I was never banded. Is this lack of weight loss normal? Is it due to lack of exercise or is it because I still have so much stored fat? 1 jeanbean1024 reacted to this
DetChatt 188 Posted July 22, 2013 I'm a little shocked you tried pizza 3 weeks post. Not judging you; just saying that because I haven't tolerated bread of any kind since I was banded (and really haven't tried much and went cold turkey). My advice to both of you would be to stick to the meal plans and try to get some exercise to kick start things. If you try to cheat much at the beginning, it's not going to help you later on. This is the time you'll be looking to lose the most the fastest, so take advantage of that as best you can. Good luck !!! 1 n2win reacted to this
Blayden2029 15 Posted July 22, 2013 My Dr. cautioned to be careful in this phase (I'm in Phase 3- but it's similar to your phase 2) because you are eating again but not restricted and often people gain...he said he'd be happy if I maintained during this phase before the fill..... It seems that it may be common.... I think I under eat, for fear of the pain associated with eating too much... so I'm still losing but slowly 1-2 a week (as I know is recommended)
jeanbean1024 7 Posted July 23, 2013 I hear all of you! I lost ten lbs my first week and then 3 lbs then nothing. I went to my first check up in tears. The doctor said "We haven't even used the tool we put inside you yet." I did get a fill and I was told to cut back on the Protein Drinks to one a day and I'm eating 5 small meals a day. I feel so much better and I am starting to see the weight move. Nothing like the first week, but it's moving. I don't think there will be one answer for all, keep encouraging each other. We will have good weeks and bad weeks. I think we will have to keep miking things up for our body too. Our bodies are smart and we have to keep trying to stay one step ahead of it. Mix up routines, foods, exercise. 2 n2win and Heccat2 reacted to this
