mommyofk 10 Posted July 21, 2013 Well today is my last recovery day I am headed back to work tomorrow after being banded on the 19th. I am feeling good today. No pain meds so far. Some soreness in my abdomen but trying to keep walking and stretching it out. I am nervous to return to work because I am a nurse and work 12 hr shifts but my boss at work knows so I have permission to take it easy and do what I can. I don't have a desk job but I can sit at my desk on and off through the day. guess we will see how it goes.
aviva1979 375 Posted July 21, 2013 From my own experience - it's good your manager knows. I was banded on the 11th and planned to return to work on the 15th and made it a few hours before being totally exhausted. I ended up taking most of last week off. My manager knew it would all be a little TBD and was very accommodating. 1 mommyofk reacted to this
Toddy 758 Posted July 21, 2013 Wow, that might be kind of rushing things. I went back to work after exactly a week and spent all day feeling like I was going to pass out! I wasn't in any pain, but I was extremely weak and light-headed. 1 mommyofk reacted to this
Steffyp 63 Posted July 21, 2013 That does seem fast. I was banded 7/15 and won't go back to work until after my next dr appt which is on 07/29. I feel good, no pain at all, but I am just starting to do some housework and have to take breaks. My energy is just not there yet, even with all the supplements I have been taking. Take it easy at work, don't try to go too fast.
mommyofk 10 Posted July 21, 2013 Thanks for all the advice! I have another nurse on standby so if I cannot make it but with a recent change in ownership if company I really can't afford to take off because we have no pto. I am not going to push myself too far though. I shall see how tomorrow goes 1 aviva1979 reacted to this

Alaskanole 6 Posted July 22, 2013 My surgery is on the 31st and I'm going back on Aug. 5th. Hopeful it works out okay. I'm a 3rd grade teacher with a coteacher in the room, but it's our first year working together in the same room. I've had 4 cesareans and a hysterectomy, from all of which my recovery was easy....vacuuming and doing laundry the day I got home. I'm a few years older now, but hope I can handle going back quickly! Everyone's recovery has been quite varied. Students return on Aug. 8th.....Please say a prayer for me when the time comes!!! 1 aviva1979 reacted to this

mommyofk 10 Posted July 24, 2013 How'd it go' date=' mommy?[/quote'] Well the last two days have definitely been a challenge! I completed both 12 hour shifts and am feeling ok! Monday was a super busy day at work and I thought I was gonna die but I made it and after a good nights sleep last night I did better today. I am having annoying pain to my left shoulder ( I am told from gas) and tightness in my shoulders. ( I am normally a stomach sleeper so I think making myself sleep on my back is stressing me) other than that its been rare mild pain some discomfort with bending over and little energy! But I survived and am off the next two days before I go back for the 3 day weekend!! Thanks for all the support! And I have an awesome support system at work! 1 aviva1979 reacted to this
Pittsburgher 261 Posted July 24, 2013 I also work in a hospital and work 12 hour shifts, be careful not to lift anything over 10 pounds, when i returned to work i almost forgot not to lift. I did not tell my manager about my surgery because i had about 16 days of vacation afterwards it was nice to be off to heal. But when i was at work and needed to move a bed or pick up a patient , or move them around i had to stop and get help. Good luck and be easy 1 mommyofk reacted to this
