Nothing fits

I got a pair of size 22 ( I was so excited too) pair of denim capri's St John's Bay from JC Penney about 6 weeks ago, well now they are too loose and I dry them all the way. I buy my jeans from Walmart, not elastic band, ugh, gross, the regular jeans and size 24 is way too big and size 22 is a little too snug, guess cause they are cheap but I can't afford to go buy expensive clothes when I'm changing sizes left and right. My 1X Kim Rogers tee's I got a few weeks ago are loose, just waiting on fall to get here so that I can get some long sleeve stuff. I'm cold natured and wear 3/4 length sleeve anyway. I guess this is a good problem to have huh?

Hi Donna,

I was banded June 10th and I've been experiencing the same as you with clothes. The other day in fact I had to alter the straps on my bras bc they are lose now and I really don't want to spend money until I'm much smaller. My husband keeps offering to buy me new clothes and I should be happy about that but I much rather wait. For now my sewing machine is great to have :)

Good luck with your journey

Yes!!!!! :) it's weird and unbelievable to look at smaller sizes and think that we can actually fit it. Since my band I've lost 23 lbs, but almost everyone tells me that I look like I've lost more :) yayyyyy for us <3

I bought a lot of 't's from Kohls when they had their sales. The winter long sleeved ones were around $8-9. and the summer ones under $7. I have about a dozen of each and they wash real well. I dry them for about 5 minutes and then hang them. So I don't know if the shrink. Also where I live in MA we have outlet stores and recently bought tanks at Jones New York for $10. each. I also did well at Marshalls/.TJ Maxx for summer clothes, too. I own a lot of tops and about 6 pairs of jeans, black, blue and white. As far as bras, I was measured and went way down. Panties, had many sizes, so I was all set there.

Good luck. I know people at my support group say they go to consignment stores. I have brought clothes there but never bought any.

I will hit Marshall's and TJ Maxx and Kohl's, thanks for the suggestions. I am going to the Smoky Mountians in Gatlinburg, TN in October and there is lots of shopping there, outlet malls and such so hoping to rack up there for fall and winter stuff. During my jourey this past year, of course I live with my 74 yr old mom, we share meals and of course cook differently now and she eats what I eat, which is healthy so she has lost about 40 lbs, didn't need to but she did. Luckily I got some of her cute jackets for church and about 4 tops that I had given her that were 2X that I had outgrown that are now loose on me. Today I wore an 18/20 top to church, boy did that feel good.

thanks for the compliment, it means so much. I was wondering if you did have any 3/4 length sleeve tee's or long sleeve tee's, nice ones, the one in my pic is a Kim Rogers from Belk and it has a v at the neck so it kind of dresses it up. I would pay you for them plus shipping.??? Also any 22 dark wash jeans petite?

Thanks, Donna

What I would suggest is two things -

If you have something like a Savers out near you (It's like a upscale/better goodwill store) they have all sizes for really cheap and they don't look like granny things.

The other option is to wear a belt with your pants to keep them on until you fit into the next size down or however long you want to wear them until you can get new clothes.

I'm in the same position as far as having a lot of dress sizes i'm going to be losing (I started at a 26/28 and I am now in 18/20) but I have also been very fortunate to have friends that have given me some clothes. I actually just got a bunch of 16 jean capri's that i'm looking forward to wearing from a friend who lost 70lbs and has no need for them anymore.

Yay for donations! lol.

Don't underestimate the value of eBay! I sell my big clothes and buy my skinnier clothes on eBay. I am able to purchase brand name beautiful clothes for pennies on the dollar. The trick is to know the brand and what size would fit you and then have at it.

I am happily at a size 12 now but still have 30 more lbs to lose. I am a professional so I can't just wear whatever. I love J. Crew but hate their prices especially during this size transition. I got skirts for $10 that are normally over $100. Beautiful tops for $8-15.

When I am done with them I will resell them on eBay!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
