Women I need some Advice! Monthly Issues

Recommended Posts

Today was NOT a good day. I struggled to sleep most of the night with dull stomach pain. In the morning, I tried to eat but couldn't finish a thing. I have been tired and cold most of the day. I am a little irritated and I just didn't feel like being bothered. I have had a Protein Shake day - food just not happening. My girls are sensitive and my back aches a little. I am two days away from my monthly nightmare. However, this is my first cycle POST lapband surgery. I'm 10 days out and I'm just not sure what is PMS and what is lapband symptoms? I'm guessing most of this is PMS. If you don't mind, please give me some advice to deal with this sensitive time. I don't know what to expect or when if at all to be concerned. My doctor is a man, not really a big help here.

Only advice I can give is to base your symptoms on what has been the norm for you in your past. No reason those symptoms should change. If you do experience 'differences' than perhaps than you can examine whether they are lapband oriented or not. The only thing some woman have shared is that due to the influx of hormones their band's have a tendency to be tighter during their MP and will take precautions during that specific time (drinking Hot Drinks prior to meals, eating less chewier/solid foods, or using more shake supplements etc).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
