Hi!

You got your band on my daughters birthday! How was it???? I'm considering Dr kuri too and would love to hear how everything went. How was the hotel? How is the staffs English?? Do you have any discomfort??? Were you scared???? How would you rate the new hospital????? I look forward to hearing from you. Best, best of luck, Rett:)

Hi Rett,

Let's see, Dr Kuri and staff were outstanding, the hospital was beautiful, clean, staff was great. A little uncomfortable with the Spanish/English stuff. Doctors spoke beautiful English as did, for the most part, Dr Kuri's office and nursing staff. The hospital nurses were a bit hard to understand and did not speak as much English. My daughter was there and she was able to talk to them but many of the people who did this at the same time as I did, did not have anyone who spoke Spanish and did just great. Surgery was fine - quick, put me out and then it was over. The first day was rough. Both my friend and I were wondering if we had made a mistake. I felt pretty miserable - sore, couldn't turn over or get out of bed easily - just out and out rotten - felt pretty isolated with the language barrier too. The nurses however, really tried to communicate and they were very, very sweet - every one of them. 2nd day was so much better. The hotel was very clean and very nice - it is not a resort (had a small pool and a nice restaurant). I was very comfortable as far as accommodations go. Hunger?, I really haven't been too hungry but my head thinks it should eat once in a while - a sip of Water really helps. The only problem that I have had is a reaction to the band aids. My incisions have become small welts that are itchy and miserable. This happened when I got home last night - I called Dr Kuri and was pleasantly surprised that he answered the phone himself. How cool is that? Told me to use Cortaid cream and keep the bandages off - not a big deal. Would I do it again? - so far absolutely! But I am still not on foods and have no idea if this is going to work (I have done my research but have gone on so many diets that it is hard to believe this will do the trick) I start liquids that can go through a straw tomorrow morning - if you write me back I will keep you posted - you can write direct if you would like @

Let me know what you think and feel free to ask any questions - I am actually so incredibly thrilled that I finally did this. My life has changed and I feel like I am on my way

Hi everyone. I was banded on 3/7/06 by Dr. Rumbaut in Monterrey Mexico.

Was 230 to start and now 207. It's taken me so long to figure out how to post a reply...........I'm not computer savy at all. Now I'd like to start a thread? I think? What is a thread anyway? I need some help navigating this site if anyone's interested.:help:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
