guzmanangie 8 Posted July 20, 2013 Had my second fill and the experience was so different from the first one.I got 1.8cc's and I feel kind of sore around the port area. The Dr didn't numb me enough the first time and had to inject me a second time , then he finally filled me and now im just sore.Dr asked me to drink Water and it went down slowly , felt like it was stuck in my upper chest area., then had to finish the rest of the water before I could leave the office. 2muchfun 8,927 Posted July 20, 2013 I've had 8 adjustments(fill/unfill) and my doc has never anesthetized my skin. If they push hard on the port it could have just bruised the skin? 2 stept04 and mrsto reacted to this
jeanbean1024 7 Posted July 20, 2013 I had my first fill this week and my doctor tried 3 cc. He had me drink small sips of Water too. I had terrible chest pain and he said the band was too full at this time and removed one cc or whatever amount it took until I got relief from the pain. I go back in two weeks for another fill. I hope you don't continue to have pain. I would like to know how you do with food! 1 stept04 reacted to this
mrsto 2,925 Posted July 20, 2013 I've had 8 adjustments(fill/unfill) and my doc has never anesthetized my skin. If they push hard on the port it could have just bruised the skin? Both of my fills were done by the nurse, and I wasn't anesthetized for either. Actually, I've never heard of it. She just plunks the needle right in, and it's over. Wouldn't anesthetizing the skin be TWO needles? Kind of doesn't make sense in this particular procedure. 1 2muchfun reacted to this
SandyM 1,956 Posted July 20, 2013 3 days postoperative I had to have all of my Fluid taken out. I was still bruised and tender from surg and they didn't anesthetize. I'm a nurse and access a lot of ports. We rarely anesthesize. We do have a cream we use on kids with ports but I find that they do just as we'll without it too. stept04 465 Posted July 20, 2013 I get anesthetized for my fills. When I get anesthetized it is barely a prick, so I'm glad they do it I'm assuming it would hurt worse if they did not and I don't want to find out. I just had my second fill and all went ok, don't know about the restriction yet. ~~~Stephanie
