Hello!

I'm new to the board. Just got the news that my tentative Lap Band surgery date is August 13th. I am super excited and a little bit nervous. I am doing my Lap Band through True Results in Houston. Does anyone have experience with them? :)

Anyone else getting banded in August?

I start my pre-op diet on the 30th. I am so excited to get this done, haha. Where are you getting your surgery done?

Oh, I hear ya! It's been a long journey! Ready to move on to the next chapter of life. I'm having surgery in Minnesota. How about you? Have you been apprehensive at all?

I'm having my surgery done with True Results in Houston, TX, so I'll be with my family for a bit post-op. Otherwise I study/live in Chicago.

I have been a bit apprehensive. You read soooo many negative posts with people who didn't lose weight because they didn't take it seriously. But I'm pretty darn determined to make this work in the long run and stick to what my doctor tells me what to do and exercise my bum off when I get the OK.

I'm also kinda afraid of anesthesia, haha. But all in all, I am excited and looking forward to change.

What about you?

I have been also. Like you, I read about people who have failed or I know people who have. BUT... I also see or hear what they are doing or more importantly not doing. I think what is the most scary is that failure possibility. I have made all the lifestyle changes that I needed to a long time ago and live a very active life. I am hopeful that this will be the tool that will finally help me achieve that goal that has always been out of reach. My doctor and dietitian have been telling me I will do very well. Guess I just gotta have faith! Don't worry too much about the anesthesia. Is this your first time having a surgery? Typically its not too bad.

Yeah, it's my first time having surgery.

And yeah, I've recently also been making lifestyle changes and exercising. I just figure I need a tool that will help keep me from relapsing and help me lose more weight as I have a long way to go (113 pounds!)

Other than anesthesia, my other big concern is excess skin. I really hope I don't have issues with elasticity and excess tummy skin since I'm planning on losing so much weight.

Lol! I have thought about that too :-) I have around the same amount to loose probably 120-130. I am hoping exercise will help. I have had a few surgeries and have never had a problem with the anesthesia. But everone is different. But most don't. It will be okay! :-)

I have been with them for the past two any a half years. I love the care they have given me. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
