Amp1504 7 Posted July 19, 2013 I had my surgery yesterday and I'm covered in that gross iodine they scrubbed me with. It's a bit sticky in some places and I want it off. Suggestions? I tried a soapy washcloth last night and it didn't work at all
GoingforGoal 1,734 Posted July 19, 2013 Hi there I'm a nurse and iodine is a toughy. Use rubbing alcohol for an initial scrub but than soap/water will do the rest. Mind you, iodine stains readily and is hard to remove. It will be absorbed and will diminish with time, but it does take time. Unfortunate that the med team didn't wipe the initial gunk off post surgery for you. Large iodine doses screws with the thyroid so it's common practice for nurses to take as much off as possible. aviva1979 375 Posted July 19, 2013 Mine came of by my 2nd shower with a soapy washcloth. I needed a little rubbing alcohol to get the residual adhesive off.
