:) :) :)

Hello---this is my first posting. I was banded on 5/1/06 by Dr. Posner in Buffalo, NY. I did a lot of research about the gastric lap band surgery prior to my own banding....now, I feel like I don't know a thing about it!! :) Could somebody answer a few questions ??--is depression normal ?? what is the usual meal ?? can you eat meat again ?? are the "fills" painful ??....I'm sure I'll have a million more questions. Thanks.

Peggy

Hi,

I was wondering how your experience was with Dr Posner. I was thinking about going to him for my surgery. How are you doing.Any information you could give me I would really appreciate, kind of new at this. How long do you have to be on Clear liquids after you surgery. Do you attend the support groups,is their a lot of support after the surgery with Dr posners clinic.

thank -you for your time,

Molly

Iam glad that Dr hoffman came to buffalo he is well experienced with the lapband system. he has done over 550 lapbands and the people lovvvvvvve him. i just cant wait to be next in line.he is verrrry caring. i spoke with a few months back felt as though i knew him all my life. very nice man.and i told him hoffman or nothing and he laugh. would you rather have some one who has done 70 lapebands or 550or more you do the math for me the one with the most experience will do.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
