tamaraking 2 Posted July 18, 2013 How do I get my lap being ID card? Keep going out with my family to eat and I am only 3 weeks post op and one place was going to have me pay Even though I was not eating. I Try to explain that I can't eat and they just did not care. 1 pastor o reacted to this
feb27bandwoman 112 Posted July 18, 2013 Restaurants cannot legally make you pay if you are not eating.......of course those around you are eating, but how do they know that you are sharing from your family's orders? 1 pastor o reacted to this
feb27bandwoman 112 Posted July 18, 2013 You don't need a lap band ID card. It is no one's business what you eat or don't.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted July 18, 2013 I got mine from my surgeon's office. However, it's no guarantee you'll get a price break or smaller portion just because you have the card. Restaurants don't have to honor it. 1 dylanmiles23 reacted to this
runt 26 Posted July 18, 2013 I have wondered about this. What does having this card "mean"? What does it say? Do many restaurants honor it? Give a discount?

My doctor had the form. Or call the lap band 800#. I use the card in restaurants all the time. 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this
NWgirl 574 Posted July 18, 2013 My surgeon gave me a lapband packet from allergan to get the card. I had to fill out a little postcard sized paper with surgery date, band size, and surgeon name and received my card in the mail. I did actually have to ask my surgeon for the packet because they also issue their own card. The back says something along the lines of "this person has had weight loss surgery and cannot eat normal portion sizes." I've honestly never used it but thought it would be a good thing to have just in case because of the information it had printed on it about my band. 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this
leighw 12 Posted July 18, 2013 Wow... I had no idea a card existed. I'm going to ask my doctor. Thanks all! 2 ladyjordan and pastor o reacted to this
NWgirl 574 Posted July 18, 2013 I have wondered about this. What does having this card "mean"? What does it say? Do many restaurants honor it? Give a discount? From what I understand, some will honor and let you order off the kids or seniors menu. There is no guarantee that they will honor it though. 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this
gowalking 10,790 Posted July 19, 2013 I'd rather walk away from most of my meal rather than show a card like that. I know that's probably silly but I'll be damned if I advertise to a server that I'm banded. 4 3mommy, ladyjordan, j0anna and 1 other reacted to this
Sharpie 3,306 Posted July 19, 2013 I have eaten out at every kind of restraunt from REd Lobster to Red Robin.. never had to worry about it.. just said I wanted a smaller portion, child's portion or Senior... of course I am a senior but they never ask for I.D... I have a card but never had to show it.. any restraunt that would charge you for sitting at the table is terrible.. I'd make sure I talked to the Manager or even go higher up to Corporate... 2 pastor o and Debbie3sons reacted to this
tigers1998 35 Posted July 19, 2013 I received a card stating that I have had lapband surgery please allow me to order smaller portions and/or order from the kids menu. I honestly didn't know I needed one. But some restaurants won't allow adults to order off the kid menus. 2 Debbie3sons and pastor o reacted to this
Mellzbellz21 21 Posted July 19, 2013 So far, the restaurants I've shown my card to are pretty understanding. I ask for child's or lighter portions, and explain & show my card. I'm always nervous though that they are going to, I dunno, be upset or weird with me. But, so far, so good. 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this
Lady VS 1,147 Posted July 19, 2013 I have wondered about this. What does having this card "mean"? What does it say? Do many restaurants honor it? Give a discount? I too received mine from my surgeon's office. I also use my card all the time to order smaller portion meals. No, there is no discount but it does help to order from the kid's menu. I haven't encountered any restaurant that didn't honor it. They were like okay with a smile. 1 Debbie3sons reacted to this
feb27bandwoman 112 Posted July 19, 2013 The foods that are generally on the kids menu are things like mystery chicken nuggets, pizza, and spaghetti, Mac and cheese.... Not exactly healthy for a banded person. Why would you want to eat those foods? 1 gowalking reacted to this
