I am noticing my pants are getting loose. I am wondering how often did everyone wait before they started buying new clothes? I dont know if i should buy a couple new pants and shirts just so i wont look like i am drowning in my clothes or just wait for more weight to fall off. I am now down from a 36/38 to a 30/32 in pants. :)

It's a really personal decision.

I've gone from an 8x/size 46 to a L/size 14 over the last 18 months. Needless to say, dropping that many sizes has gotten really expensive. Oddly enough, the smaller I get the faster I drop sizes too. I lost close to 60 pounds before I dropped my first size but now if I lose even 15 my clothes get too big.

I personally won't replace my jeans until I drop 2 full sizes otherwise it just costs too much. Cotton pants I pretty much wear until they're slipping off my hips- which is usually a 2-3 size drop. Shirts I wear until they're slipping off my shoulders or just plain drowning me in fabric.

If you can afford to replace your clothes with every size you drop- I say go for it. You will look smaller in the properly fitting clothes and you'll feel better about yourself. However, if you're on a budget (like me) then you might want to make your clothes last as long as you can stand them.

I shopped Goodwill stores and end of season sales. 2nd hand stores have lots of nice stuff if you are selective. Also, there check out clothing exchange here in this forum. Best wishes, Karen

Also, instead of using food as a reward, try anew pair of pants or a shirt.

I would say that you need to invest in some duct tape to keep your clothes from falling off. Actually I tried to wait and see if I can skip two sizes. For instance I recently went from 46 to 42.

I have pulled all the tent size clothing out of my closet, if my pants/shorts don't look like a skirt when I cinched my belt, they stay. I have gotten a couple of pairs of capris and a couple pairs of shorts and a couple of tops that fit nicely. Check out the goodwill stores, they have nice clothes that won't cost you a fortune when changing sizes frequently.

I'm gonna Pop Some Tags with $20 in my pocket...hit the thrift store. Not spending $$$ on clothes for a while, you'll be buying a new wardrobe every month.

First of all...congrats!!

I am someone that has been a yo-yo dieter in the past so I had bins of smaller sizes under my bed. Even so I am treating myself to some cheap buys as I go because making myself feel better helps me stay motivated and look better and more confident.

Shortly after my surgery I was out and about and found a store that was closing with plus size pants at 5 a pair. I bought a couple pairs from 14-20 and it was definitely a good investment. My only true annoyance was that I wouldn't realize my pants were too large until I had already surpassed the next size down.

Even now, I am only buying a few necessities as the time comes because my weight and body shape continues to change.

I love shopping sales racks so I will probably buy ne clothes as soon as I need them... But I also have some nice suits for work n stuff that I'm gonna try and take to a tailor. For like 5-10 bucks you might be able to get a seam or two taken in.

I know a thing or two about sewing, I'll be taking in my pants for as long as they can continue to look like pants

You make me laugh when I think about my son. He was losing after his banding and asked to get a suit tailored, and the tailor said that it was way too much to take in, it would not look good. Hurtful when he had paid $1000.00 for the suit! Best of luck to you who are hoping for tailoring!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
