Big time. My preop was supposed to be for 2 weeks, I didn't get serious until the last 4 or 5 days. Some people don't even have a preop diet. It's designed to defat your liver, not necessarilly to lose weight - perhaps to also prepare you for the changes in your eating habits. But 1) how do they know how fat your liver was to begin with 2) once banded, you won't have a choice but to change your eating habits. To say it is your food police is an understatement. I'm almost afraid to eat sometimes, especially at night.

You'll be fine.

What do you mean by "Messing Up"? and What do you think will be different because of it?

What is the purpose of the Pre-op diet?

All Dr.'s have different approaches to this, and you will get as many responses here on this forum...I will not say what I think, but you do need to think it through....

By "messing up" I mean eating things that aren't allowed. I've been following it to the T but yesterday I had a craving for mashed cauliflower, which I make with butter & cream cheese. I made it.... And then didn't eat it!!!!! Then I was mad at myself for making it and not eating it. LoL. My sister had her sleeve done and her doctor DID NOT put her on a pre-op... I advised to to do it anyhow. Also, I know the diet it to shrink the liver to make the procedure less complicated but I did expect some weight loss during it... It has been VERY small. I think that's why I had the urge to break it. Anyway, surgery is this Saturday. ❤❤

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
