How large is the port? What's the size and shape? Also will I be able to lay on my Belly again and go on roller coasters and have things up against my belly once I'm fully healed? Was banded Thursday so I'm still so just trying to get as much info about the port as I can ... How long is it tender for? Does it hit getting a fill there?

You can go in for a revision to the port once you lose the weight especially if the original one petrudes and have a low profile port inserted, my surgeon told me. I don't know why they don't just put that one in to start. I think the top hat one leads to more port flips the low profile one is flat and even all around. I have seen it at the surgeon's office.

My port protrudes quite a bit now that's I've lost weight when lying down, especially now that I'm pregnant. Can cause some discomfort if something rubs against it but otherwise I really don't notice it. I can lie on my stomach but it will bother me if I lie on my side for too long (again, exacerbated from being pregnant). Haven't had issues with roller coasters or flying, but for some reason it gets a little uncomfortable if I'm swimming (almost as if the buoyancy messes with it or something). Fills can be a little uncomfortable but the nurse always gives me a numbing shot beforehand so it's tolerable.

Yes ma'am. I feel my port everyday and see it as well. Sometimes it gets a little tender and then it goes away. I told my doctor and he said not to worry because it was connected to my muscle so depending on how I move, sleep, turn, etc. I may have slight discomfort but for the most part, my port and the area it is located in are fine. I really wouldn't worry. Good luck.

Hi Sprinkle. You will be able to do all those wonderful fun things you love to do in time. Just be patient with your body. Everybody's body is different so healing time takes longer for some than others. Sorry, but I can't give you a definite timeframe. Your doctor will be able to give you the okay for all of that. Good luck.

My port really stand at attention when I'm laying on my back. It looks like an alien ready to poke out of there! Drives me crazy, but not enough to undergo a revision surgery. It's a small price to pay. It only bugs me if I mess with it. It's just below my rib cage, so high enough that most things don't touch it. I've been on roller coasters with no problem at all, and it's way above where my jeans hit. It's mostly just a vanity thing.

i can (almost begin to see mine) when i am standing straight..it is not a problem for me...and the more i lose, i am guessing it maybe more visible. i see it as my little helper..to me, its not a big deal....there is surgery later on if you wish to go that route...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
