Banded 7/10 and got my first fill 8/6!

For some reason I thought I had 2.6 ml put in when I was banded, but when they measured it there was 4.2 ml. I am still having good restriction but getting hungry after only a couple of hours, so they added 0.5 ml for a total of 4.7 ml. Getting the fill felt strange, but did not hurt. And I'm feeling better than ever! Lost a few more pounds and am satisfied quicker and for longer periods of time, too! Very pleased with my band so far!

I was banded on Jul 8th and not scheduled for a "possible" fill til Aug 21st! I have neen limiting my meals to no more than a cup of food which starts with three ounces Protein the reast of the cup is veggies. I make sure to get 60 grams of protein a day (I drink one shake a day to help ensure I get enough). If I am snacky in between...I have suagar free Jello or popsicles and/or a greek yogurt. I am "trying" to get 4 Water bottles in a day. This seems to be working for me. AND...I don't have any Fluid in my band either. Hope this helps. Lisa

I'm doing about the same, Lisa. In fact, I doubt that I'm eating a whole cup because I just can't hold that much. I also have a Protein Shake every morning for Breakfast, and between the Protein Powder that I use and the Protein in the milk, I get 42 grams of protein just from that. I am averaging around 70 grams of protein per day. Maybe I'm not drinking enough Water. The only time I ever have a snack is mid to late afternoon when I'll have a Dannon fit-n-light greek yogurt, and that is 80 calories (and 12 grams of protein). But, the scale still isn't budging. I don't think I've even lost a pound over the last week!

Banded July 8th and won't get my first fill till Aug 27th, and can not come soon enough! Almost feels like I haven't had the band surgery at all! It only talks to me if I eat to fast.

I was supposed to get first fill 8/20 but had to postpone due to upcoming trip. I am ready for my fill as I don't have any Fluid in my band and I'm beginning to notice. Rescheduled for 9/3 now.

I should have posted that I also have PCOS and my doctor is pretty aggressive with me! He wants me to continue losing weight and not stall! I will tell you that getting filled so quick had made me learn my body better! I only have 3 cc's but can only eat about a cup of food at a time! My body lets me know when enough is enough! Learning to listen has been hard! Because I remember how I use to eat and so does my family! Now I hear ... That's not enough ... You're going to starve! I can't win for losing! But I will get there! And so will they! I will say that getting didn't stop me from being hungry! So may e I am not in my green zone yet! Good luck all! Fills are in your future!

The last couple of days I have not been the best about my diet. Yesterday I could not get satisfied. Today was better but I feel no restriction since the swelling has gone down. I do get fuller faster but don't really stau that way long. Pretty much only if I drink fast does I even know its there. I get my first fill in a week. I hope this gets better after a fill. I am still under my calories and tracking everything but I am frustrated because I am not losing and I have been exercising too. Ok I am done whining now. Just a little discouraged tonight.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
