How do you see yourself

I was told today that its time to go down a pant size (scrubs). Other people have made comments about my weight loss. I still feel like my body is the same. Anyone else ?!

LOL. First off, great job on the weight loss. I know exactly what you are talking about. I was at my sons baseball game a month ago wearing my favorite t-shirt and had a friend tell me if I didn't clean out my closet and show off my new body she would do it for me :) Embrace the new you and show off what you have worked so hard to change. You deserve the treat.

EJRN you will be told many times, it isn't about the scale but the inches. I have been stuck for about 2.5 months but I am still loosing inches and have dropped another size. I always tell myself "Keep on moving forward and don't look back."

I was banded May 14 of 2012. At first I could tell a big difference in myself, but since Jan I have not lost any weight and I feel like I did in the beginning......big. I know it must be phychological. I now wear a size a 12/14, but I feel I look really really big!

You all are doing great!! It's such a long hard process to wrap your head around the body image issue. I still struggle with that. My friends tell me I am thin, and I cringe. All I see are the problem areas. It's hard to stay positive, but try to take pictures and compare. You may not enjoy it, but it's an important part of the process and will help you visualize your true self (because apparently the mirror lies)!! :D

Oh sure. What you're feeling is very common. I knew I was losing weight because the scale said so but I couldn't see it. And then I tried on a blouse that I couldn't button when I started this journey and to my amazement, the darn thing buttoned up just fine. For a moment I actually thought the blouse had magically gotten bigger instead of just realizing that I had.gotten smaller.

It's important for you to get that tangible evidence that you are losing weight until the realization kicks in.

I really do not enjoy when the scale seems to get stuck for a few weeks. Usually during that time I really concentrate on either NSV or how my clothes are fitting.

Though in my head I am thinking that I look like I was a teen but the mirror says something else. I guess somewhere in between lies the real you.

I was just banded on July 10 2013. Since I started the process (April 29 2013) from pre op appointments to pre op diet to surgery I have lost 30 lbs. My biggest issue body wise is up top: lap band wont fix that. Other wise, I feel great. I guess my journey started off different. My hernia was awful. I couldn't eat most foods and I was in pain constantly. NO surprise after hernia repair and lap band I feel tons better. I am just excited to be able to eat fruit. Much less lose weight. As far as image is concern, I was never a chubby child or a big teenager: I was actually fit and active. But I had more issues with my body image when I was slim than I do now that I am heavy. Im pretty confident that with the ability to actually EAT healthier, I will be able to whip my body back into shape. MORE IMPORTANTLY: I LEARNED THE HARD WAY IN LIFE THAT NO MATTER WHAT SIZE YOU ARE, YOU HAVE TO LOVE YOURSELF. NOONE CAN DO THAT FOR YOU. The more you love the person you are the more it will reflect on the outside. This journey is not just a health journey but a life journey: one involving ALL OF YOU. Not just what size you are. So look yourself in the mirror and be proud of all you have accomplished so far. Wear your clothes with pride. And the rest will follow.

This is so true about the self-image. I thought it was only me, but I can't seem to understand that I am now thin. Although I have lost about 10 sizes and I'm now a size 8, when I look in the mirror, I still see myself as heavy. It's only when I look at pictures do I realize that I'm not.

What you've stated is great...to maintain pictures of your weight loss journey so that you can track your progress.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
