colorado_chick 55 Posted July 14, 2013 Hey, I was banded a week ago (hooray!!!) I don't have my appetite back yet, but I am worried that the diet I was told to follow is not giving me enough calories to heal properly. I can have Clear Liquids and Protein Shakes for 14 days. So basically, even if I can eat 3 Protein shakes a day (which I can't) , I'm only getting, at most, 400 calories. I need to start walking more, but I just feel so weak and shaky and dizzy, like I have no energy. It's not like I think I need 1500 calories right now, but I'm worried that 200 or 300 just isn't enough. Is anyone else worried about not getting enough calories, or am I just crazy??!! Blayden2029 15 Posted July 14, 2013 Try to find a Protein Shake with more protein... I use nectar by Syntax and it has 23g of Protein per scoop
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted July 14, 2013 It is very little but normal for the phase you're in. Like you, I was on clear liquids for 2 full weeks. It wasn't easy and I had a lot of dizzy spells and headaches. One thing I did to help increase Protein and calories- I added clear, unflavored Protein Powder to my chicken broth. Unjury also makes a protein chicken broth that isn't great but it's not awful either. Hang in there! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

The post op diet is to give you the best chance to heal. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this

kll724 3,055 Posted July 14, 2013 Add more Protein calories to your drinks. Try Gatorade, or Special K. The idea is not nec. using diet drinks if you need calories. I could never quite understand the surgeon saying sugar free. I guess this will sound radical to most of you! Just my opinion, so not to be taken as a FACT!!!
