SolracSpree 133 Posted July 13, 2013 I was banded 6/20 and 12 days later as the adhesive wore away I noticed my port incision was infected. I was put on an antibiotic. I completed the antibiotic Keflex (10days) called my emergency after hours nurse told her that there was still pus and swelling. She prescribed me another 10 days and told me to call the office as soon as it opens Monday. Anyone banded had problems with their surgery stitches getting infected? Besides an antibiotic did you take anything to encourage healing?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted July 13, 2013 I didn't after my Lap Band surgery, but I did have an infected incision where a drain was after I had a strangulated hernia last summer. Being as it hasn't cleared up with a course of antibiotics, I would request they do a culture on it to make sure you don't have a staph infection. That's what I ended up having and once they got me on the appropriate antibiotics it cleared right up. 1 beanie80 reacted to this
jenns_history 4 Posted July 14, 2013 I had my surgery on 6-26, and one of mine is infected now. It didn't close with the super glue stitches either. It was soo gross. I am on day 5 of 7 days of Keflex, they also told me to use peroxide whenever I changed my dressing. It looks a lot better and closed but now the first aid take pulled all the skin off around my incision lol so now have to wait for that to heal.
Good4me1313 54 Posted July 14, 2013 Stay on top of that infection and I agree with Mis, you may need further testing and stronger antibiotics.
