IndyBandster 0 Posted May 8, 2006 I will be banded in 4 weeks. Are most of you able to eat salads and raw veggies, if chewed well? How many weeks post op should I wait before a salad could be attempted? Or are raw veggies and salads contraindicated? I would hate to give up salads................ DonnaB 3 Posted May 8, 2006 I understand some people have no problem with salad and some people can't do salad at all. I've been banded for almost 9 weeks and haven't tried it yet. Good luck.
iteLnTx 0 Posted May 8, 2006 My dietician did bring that up and only said be sure to chew well once I introduced that into diet. I have eaten salad and have tolerated it well.
FunnyDuddies 6 Posted May 9, 2006 I too would die if I could not have my salads. I love them. And I make so many types of salad. It is one of my hobbies to find new salads to make and put my own twist on it. If I could not eat baby spinach or lettuce after being banded i would just go into a deep depression. Marimaru 7 Posted May 9, 2006 Just avoid stringy stuff. Things like celery (but you can remove the strings on that), asparagus (maybe chopped into tiny pieces??), etc. It just doesn't chew down well enough if it's stringy. I love me some chopped salad! Elisabethsew 50 Posted May 9, 2006 I had a salad yesterday (nearly 6 weeks post-op) and did fine but I'm wondering if that will change after a first fill.
Jachut 487 Posted May 9, 2006 I find salad one of the easier foods to eat, not that I have major trouble with anything. But I dont need to be careful at all with it. salad and fruit - if those didnt go down, I would consider myself too tight.
