4 Month out and staled

Recommended Posts

Today I am 4 months banded and I have staled at 38 pounds lost, nothing since surgery. I have small victories that I try to keep up front but my negative side comes out and tells me, "I am going to fail here too". See your weight isn't coming off just like all the other times......:-(. Sorry, for venting and letting this out.

Yep, there has to be some reason for it. You should have lost something by now, so something is obviously not working in your program. You have to take a hard look at every calorie you are consuming (write them down!) and every bit of exercise you are and should be doing (write it down as well!). You have to own up to your part and be honest with yourself or you won't succeed. There will be times where it's easier than others, so you have to take it one day at a time, one meal at a time.

I'm very sorry you're struggling.

The best way to figure out how to get your weight loss going is with the basics: Do you track your calories and measure your portions? Do you exercise?

Thank You so much for your encouragement. I have been logging my foods in "Lose It" but I am going to start today logging the old fashion way... Pen and notebook, maybe I just need to see it daily. I also have picked up my exercise program to 5X a week. I meet with a NUT on Wednesday and get a fill on Thursday. Maybe I will get more guidance. Once again thanks I have gotten more information from this than anywhere else. Next week is going to be much better.

Thanks for your advice. I am going back to writing everything down. I have been logging my food and exercise on "Lose It". I have also raised my exercise from 2X a week to 5X. Thanks again. Going to be a much better week.

I think it's great you're logging your food. I use Lose It, too. I absolutely love it, it's become my "food bible" in a way. When you go see your NUT, definitely show her your logs because it will really help a lot.

Just to be safe, I might also make an appointment with your primary care physician. There could be a medical reason you're not losing too, like something hormonal or thyroid in nature.

Best wishes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
