I am about 22 or 23 days Post-Op and I am scheduled for my first fill on the 17th. One of my questions is, I am pretty close but not entirely healed up at my incision sites. Will the Doc still do the fill? From the looks of things, he will be inserting the needle directly into the incision on my stomach.

My other question is, I feel like I could eat just about any type of food that I want and as much as I could before the surgery but at the same time, when I lose track of what I am doing and take too big of a bite and try to swallow it, I can feel it slow down near the band and I have to stop and wait for it to go down. I do chew my food up really well, I just think I am taking too large of a bite. Is that the reason for the stuck feeling?

Hi there. I was banded on March 23rd and had my first fill on June 26th I was still sore at my incision site and they did the fill anyhow. They numbed it with limousine first and it was not painful. I also felt like Can eat anything and still do. They thing I struggle with most is eating to fast and too big of bites and have gotten "stuck" a few times. From What I understand when you hit the green zone it will be worse so just try to train yourself now to slow down and take smaller bites. I don't have another fill until August 1st I can't wait to find that sweet spot though. Best of luck to you

Yes ...small bites and chew..chew..chew! Good luck! Kerryisme would be correct about the green zone and getting stuck or uncomfortable.

I know people that have a had a fill and the incision is still a little "raw"and there is no issue at all.

It sounds like to you need to take smaller bites. I still take bites the size of my finger nail (and Im 7 yrs. out). Make sure you finish your first bite and swallow it before you take your second bite. It does take some getting used to "practice" this but you will get the hang of if it.

It looks like you and I were banded pretty close together. June 12 here. I had my first fill two days ago and the had to remove one of the bandages from my chest. So I'm pretty sure that as long as you need it - which it sounds as if you do - you will get it.

I felt - and honestly still do - the same way about eating whatever I want whenever I want. I have realized BIG TIME that I need to slow down when I eat. I took the recommendation from here and starting using a "toddler" fork and it has helped tremendously.

Good luck!

Your incision site is probably a little off from where the actual port is, so you should be fine.

It's probably still a little early after your surgery for the size bites you're taking with solid food, so you may want to slow down and take smaller bites (and chew more) and see if that helps.
