I am about 2 months post op. I had my first fill on Monday 7/8. The doc had to poke around a bit, and then got in the port "to the side" she said. Extracted all the Fluid, about 3cc's and added that back plus 3.

So all is well. Eating now back to regular food, nothing getting stuck doing well with all of that. However…on that side near the port when I am exercising it hurts a bit when I breathe deeply while walking/walking really fast not really a jog as yet.

I just wanted to reach out and see what opinions are. The doc did say I might be a little sore, but it's a strange tight feeling in the muscle there, not really at the port site itself but a bit lower.

I don't want to hurt myself, and I also don't want to lose the momentum of going to the gym and getting a little fitness started either.

Your advice is welcome.

I found the area where the port is attached to the muscle was sore for a couple months after surgery when I pulled or strained it. For instance, stretching a lot or lifting a heavier object.

Now, sometimes when I move weird, I get a small pain there. For example, I just got back from the pool with my son. I was playing with him and diving for rings. At one point I was stretched out reaching for the ring under Water when he jumped on me. I twisted weird and immediately felt a pain around the muscle near my port area.

I've read of others having similar, random pains there too. For me it doesn't happen often but it does happen.

When I had my first fill a couple weeks ago the nurse had to move the needle around inside to find the right spot on my port. It was pretty uncomfortable while that was happening and sore for a week or so after. Your pain may be similar to what I had.

Mine is STILL sore sometimes 2 years later if I bump it hard or mess with it too much (because it's just sticking out there driving me crazy). I imagine the manipulation during your fill is causing a lot of your discomfort, but don't be surprised if it gets sore now and then. Exercise won't hurt it. Just be mindful and don't put any undue pressure on that spot.

I agree with the others. Perhaps it is sore from the manipulation the doctor had to do to get to your port. You could try some tylenol or motrin to see if it helps you get more comfortable. If it doesn't get better though, you may want to call your surgeon next week.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
