Support Group - Palm Beach County

Recommended Posts

Does anyone here attend the support group at Wellington Regional Medical Center? They have a general weight loss surgery group and one dedicated to banded patients. Just curious if anyone attends; I've just started and am new to the area.

I have gone to both the general and lapband only meeting at Wellington Regional I prefer the lapband one better.

Ya I'm still going to go to both of them since I've only gone once to each. Give it another go and see if I prefer one over the other. I know this month there is just one next Monday.

My mother in law lives in Wellington and I've been considering relocating there. It's nice to know there are support options if I choose to relocate.

@GuyMontag: I checked out two offices in Palm Beach County, and preferred the Wellington Surgical Weight Reduction Center over a practice at JFK Regional. I moved here already having had the procedure, and some doctors won't touch a patient who had their surgery done at another location. Who knows why. I suspect they either see it as a liability issue or don't want to deal with patients when the big money has already been made by someone doing the surgery. The JFK practice was super rude when I called about going there for support groups, fills, check-ins, etc. The people at Wellington regional are super nice but will kick your rear if you're not staying on the program. I needed that :) Good luck if you decide to relocate!!

Isit5yet,

Could you post the days & times for the next couple of support groups, in case I can't make the first one, traveling soon....

Thanks!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
