I am in the last days of my preop diet! My surgery is Monday also!!!!! My surgery is at 1:30 in afternoon. I am so ready. How are you doing?

My surgery is monday morning! I'm feeling very nervous (mainly about the anesthetic) but excited at the same time. Really struggling with the pre-op diet this week. I know it's my last chance to eat before liquids so that's all I want to do!!

Ok so I know where my headache is comming from now. Day one of my pre op diet and I can already tell I am going to be hell on wheels...I would not have it any other way because I have my eye on the prize! A healthier me

Tamara I felt awful for the first four days of pre- op. Bad headaches, no energy, and just downright horrid. My surgeon said to expect bad headaches for the 4-5 days due to sugar and carb withdrawal. You will feel better soon :)

Hi - I am brand new here - my first time. I'm scheduled for my lapband on 8/13. I'm nervous but excited. I've started my 2 week pre-op diet and I'm on my 4th day. Surprisingly, I'm not doing too bad. Can't believe I've not had any diet pepsi in almost 4 days!! Even though they say you can during the pre op diet, I decided to just cut it now since they say no carbonation after the surgery. The part that seems hardest for me is that a lot of my social time was around eating out with friends/family. SO I'm feeling rather lost and kind of deprived. I lost my husband 3 years ago and I have eaten out a lot since then with friends/family and so this will be a huge change. I'm ready to get this weight off though. I just need to be sure I keep a variety of "legal" things available that I can have. For those of you on the pre-op diet, do you eat any fruits vegetables during the day, in between your morning and lunch Protein Shakes?

I think that many of us have different pre op options, I bought sugar free Popsicles and fudgsicles, lots of sugar free drink mixes, Special K Protein Drinks and chick and beef broths. Also have Tomato Soup and drinking hot and sour Soup from the Thai restaurant right now..yummy! I have to stay at 1000-1200 calories

I'm on day 4 of my 2 week pre op diet. I'm having lots of diahreah. Anyone else have this problem? I'm wondering if it's the low fat almond milk that I'm mixing my shakes with. Anyone have any advice here?

Hi Terri,

Have you tried just mixing the shakes with Water? I use the Optifast shakes (Australian so not sure if you have the same) and they taste pretty good with just Water. You might also be intolerant to an ingredient in the shakes? Perhaps ask your surgeon if you can swap them for something else because you will get very weak if that continues :(

Take care xx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
