aphroheidi 8 Posted July 11, 2013 Before I had my surgery I was using MyFitnessPal but Obviously not to its fullest… Someone posted on here that there was a barcode scanning feature that you could use and I have gone crazy on that thing! Whoever you are I, really, REALLY appreciate that you posted about that because now I was able to enter all of my Vitamins that I take each day just by scanning the barcode… It's a great way to keep track of all my nutrition and make sure I get everything that my body needs...i can't thank you enough! 3 Adrienne21, JenWis6 and KAATNS reacted to this
stept04 465 Posted July 11, 2013 I use my myfitnesspal. What is this barcode scanning feature you are talking about. I would like to try it too. ~~~Stephanie 1 aphroheidi reacted to this
aphroheidi 8 Posted July 11, 2013 It is such a cool feature! Once you hit add, then Breakfast (or whichever meal you are adding) there is a squiggly looking thing in the upper righ hand corner, hit that and point your phone camera at whatever bar code you want (almost every food you eat has an entered bar code) and it takes a picture and adds that particular food to your diary . All you do is adjust your portion to what you are eating:). Let me know if you need more help on how to use it, you will love it!
stept04 465 Posted July 11, 2013 Is this an app I need to download? If so where do I get it? ~~~Stephanie
aphroheidi 8 Posted July 11, 2013 It is a free App you can download to your phone (i believe you can use it on computer too but not sure about bar code feature in there. The only time I use it on the computer is when I am entering my own recipe (another great feature). To find app do a search for MyFitnessPal. The icon is light blue and has a white leaping person icon. Let me know if you have trouble finding it...
stept04 465 Posted July 11, 2013 oh ok I have that. I just can't find the squiggly thing. How to you find it. ~~~Stephanie
aphroheidi 8 Posted July 11, 2013 After you hit "add", then "breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack, there is a search bar at the top and just to the right of that looks like a giant hash tag, that is the bar code scanner .

gumbo1971 6 Posted July 13, 2013 Myfitnesspal has helped me lose 25lbs. pre-op. I use it both on my phone and kindle. Most days I pre-plan my meals on there and that really helps. I love that it keeps me accountable and grounded. 1 aphroheidi reacted to this
