I'm 3 weeks and 1 day post-surgery, I had my first fill yesterday - I didn't know I got 3cc's during surgery and 1cc was added yesterday for a total of 4cc's in a 10cc band. I'm melting, for lack of a better word - averaging 1.5 lb loss a day. I'm getting in as much as I can, I manage at least 800 cals (should be 1,200), my hair isn't shedding, I'm not weak...in fact I feel stronger than I have in quite some time, I don't really exercise but I walk and take the stairs a lot at work. My coworkers are concerned that I am dropping the pounds too quickly but at my appointment yesterday my nurse said that I'm 9 weeks ahead of my goal, but she didn't seem concerned. Is this okay and has anyone else had this experience? Please say yes, because I'm happy with such rapid results.

Don't worry about it, really. I lost really fast to begin with and several co-workers said I was losing way to fast, but it slowed as time when on. Now I have been stuck in the same 5 pound zone for about 3 months.

I am 4 week post op yesterday. I am down 55 pounds including the weight loss I had as part of my 3 week pre-op liquid diet. I too am feeling much better with more energy. I have been eating about 1000 calories a day with a half hour walk every day. In my personally experience the bigger you are when you start the faster it comes off in the beginning. Enjoy it now as you will hit some dreaded plateaus where no weight will come off for several weeks at a time. It is a long process but you are off to a great start.

Everyone loses at different rates. If you feel good and your doctor isn't concerned, then just enjoy the success.

For the record, I lost super fast at first. I actually lost a whopping 44 pounds before I even had my first fill. I continued to lose around 20 pounds a month for awhile, too. It's only in the last 6-8 months my loss rate has slowed to a more "normal" pace.

Just enjoy it while it lasts but don't be discouraged when it does slow down :)

Yes, everyone does lose at different rates. When I was banded back in 2009, I lost very quickly, losing 125 in 8 months. During that time, I felt great, my energy level was through the roof and did not experience any extreme hair lose. As long as you are feeling good, just enjoy your success!

Out of curiosity, are you still losing?

I am ten days post op and have lost nine pounds! Loving every minute of it. Last week I thought I made the biggest mistake of my life but this week is much better! Surgery, pain and too many liquids were the cause but it gets better every day. I love this forum also. It has been a great source of comfort.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
