kerryisme 9 Posted July 11, 2013 OK I am 7 weeks post op and have had 1 fill. I haven restriction and have only lost 10 lbs. I am looking forward to getting more fills and hopeful hitting the green zone. I just am looming for done pointers the thing I am struggling most with is not eating so fast and small bites I am a very quick eater and tend rivalry large bites. I am feeling so awkward trying to chew for so long and waiting in-between bites. Does anyone have any advice for me. I am worried that I am going to have a slip or something I has more fills. I already get stuck often from eating to fast and to big of bites.
Beachy_Babs 5 Posted July 11, 2013 Congratulations on your surgery and welcome to being a bandster! I used to eat very fast....too fast before lapband. Now, I have to take my time and follow the doctor's instructions. I've been banded since 2011 and have lost 80+ lbs but gained 30 due to my recent pregnancy and giving birth. So I am back on track again, but it has been hard! Don't take bites bigger than the size of a pencil eraser. (You know...the old school ones where you would put it on top of the pencil). I don't wait 10 minutes between bites because then it would take me FOREVER to eat my food. I wait about 2-3 minutes and find something useful to do while I am waiting. I am a full time student so I just focus on my homework and the time passes by quickly. Don't worry, you won't get a slip. You aren't restricted enough to cause much or any damage to your band. Just follow your doctor's specific instructions and you will be fine. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Beachy_Babs 5 Posted July 11, 2013 Oh and if you're getting stuck already, STOP eating such big bites. Being stuck is the worst feeling I have everrrr encountered and doing it too much will cause band erosion. Be careful please
B-52 7,113 Posted July 11, 2013 The band will FORCE you to modify your eating behaviors, or else! Or, you can get a un-fil, eat the way you want, and complain about not loosing weight and how the band does not work.... 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted July 11, 2013 i agree with B to let the band work once you (eat too much or too fast), you wont do it again its a lesson learned...i found that out quickly..all you can do is take your time..no need to rush or inhale your food (that was me-eat as fast as i could to get another plate full)...i would suggest putting your fork down between meals or not take another bite until that one you have chewing is gone and you feel it go down.....dont worry over things that may or may not happen....take care of yourself and your band (by doing what your dr advises) and you will see that nothing will happen.....need to be positive...you can do it
