The "Green Zone" is when your band is adjusted(filled) properly and you feel satisfied with less food for 4 hours or more. Less food can be 1/2 cup, 1 cup, 300-400 calories or insert your own caloric meal target here.

I define the green zone a little differently for myself, basically for me the green zone is when I have enough restriction where I can't easily eat a cheeseburger with the bun. That's how I know the band is working for me. If I get much tighter than that then I risk getting stuck on really tight days.

Like this definition. Of course you also have to define "cheeseburger". It can really mean different things. My past life it meant bacon double cheeseburger! lol

For me a cheese burger would be anything with a bun basically. If I can go to mcdonald's and eat a big mac without issue then that's not good in a major way. Same with a whopper. There are some times I take the first bite to test things and and end up just scrapping the rest of the bun and going for the burger.

Believe it or not I had to have 18 fills before I hit my green zone. That's because I have over 14cc Fluid in my 14cc band.

Yikes! 18 fills? Hard to have compassion for the bandsters who've had 2 and complain about being hungry all the time? But, you're a standup guy and offer great advice without judgment. B)

Yeah. Let's just say the lap band has had the added benefit of curing me of my fear of needles. Overall with fills and a slight unfill here and there I've been poked over 20 times. Fortunately I haven't needed any adjustments for over a year and don't plan on getting any.

Read this thread. The first thing any bander should learn imo is what the green zone is.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
